The (fallen) empire of the sun
The southern lands of the continent are still held by the lizardfolk, once the willing servants of the dragons. Therefore, the Griffin Kingdom long ago erected a formidable fortress to ward off any potential invasions. Beyond this wall lie the Daggerfang Swamps. If the kingdom's citizens are to be believed, these swamplands are nothing more than a deadly mire. All the tales of the deep swamps, whispered in hushed voices in the hours before a restless sleep, are ghost stories. But even darker myths surround the Pyramids of the Sun. At these sacred sites, the scaly races are said to have offered bloody sacrifices to the glory of the dragons. But with the fall of the old empire, even these former centers of power became just another part of the grim legends told in the taverns of the north about the south.
